Pothos Fate
This game was made during the GMTK GameJam 2024
Story:
After many years of exciting adventures and dangerous endeavours, the small town of Sorrow's Creek had fallen silent.
The townsfolk were no longer interested in fighting monsters or travelling to other lands.
And so it was that Pothos the Green was no longer wanted for his magical wizardry in battle, but rather for changing the size of their everyday objects.
And such was the fate of Pothos the Green. Forever using his immense power to help the crooked old townsfolk of Sorrow's Creek with their belongings.
How to Play:
The goal is to resize the given object so that it fits the objective found underneath the current customer. On the left side are a few options to help you with that. The hint always shows a different scaling value from the one you are supposed to figure out.
Size calculation:
All sizes are calculate in terms of the smallest cuboid that could fit around the object. Not the actual volume or surface area of the mesh.
Levels:
There are 3 levels in total. If you reach the criteria of a given level you automatically enter the next one. If you don't, the curtain closes and you start anew.
Retrospective:
My main goal was to make a game that felt polished in aspects of game art, theme, and interaction. I'm very happy with the vibe I was able to achiev. The sound, the art, the story are all aspects I absolutely adore.
The gameplay however fell very short. I think the calculations are wrong at times, the score is not well calculated, and the overall feel of the gameplay just isn't good. It feels very random.
I have learned alot of new things in this GameJam and I'm eager to keep on improving my skillset. While I would've loved to polish the gameplay more I'm very happy with my result.
